Tool, It’s Not What You Think, I Mean the Band

How many Tool fans are here on Hub Pages, I’d like to count you all, but it will require your help as well. I don’t have anything to say that a true Tool fan doesn’t know, but maybe other music lovers will be interested in reading this, hell, every Tool fan must read this, why? Because I said so. To explain the title, I said it’s not what you think, but at the same time it is, Maynard James Keenan explained the name of the band like this: "Tool is exactly what it sounds like: It's a big dick. It's a wrench.... we are... your tool; use us as a catalyst in your process of finding out whatever it is you need to find out, or whatever it is you're trying to achieve."

Well I hope that gives you an insight into Tool, the band, and some of their philosophy. They have another pseudophilosophy called lachrymology, which is sort of a religion or a belief that through crying and letting your emotions go you, we, can reach the highest state of consciousness. That also explains the story and goal behind their music, they are our Tool of letting ourselves go, letting our fears go, letting every dark thought out of your heart and you know what… it feels liberating.

They are a very interesting band, just looking at their videos you will see that there is more to them (fit for mental hospital), each of them is a genius in his own way. Maynard has an angel’s voice and his ability to dignify emotions like anger, disgust, lust and love is beyond a normal human being. Justin Chancellor has a unique way with the bass, like he is from another dimension and normal beats and tempos don’t apply to him. Danny Carey, the man who gave them soul is the man that keeps their soul alive through his gipsy broken rhythm. And there is Adam Jones, the amazing guitarist that is also an artist that creates their not from this world videos like the one below (My favorite video by the way). I am just sad they never made a video for my favorite song, Lateralus, but I think even Adam and Maynard didn’t know how to do that.

Is there anything better than a band that creates real music, a music with a purpose and not those ladi da da pop songs that have no meaning, or just beats with violent lyrics and gang banging, they still practice the forgotten art of composing like the great composers did a few centuries ago. They still create music for the people; they are our channel and our salvation. Music can be liberating, their music is more than therapeutic and liberating, their music is true freedom.
