New Tool Band Album Coming Up, APC Around The Corner

Tool fans have gotten used to one thing, an album every 4 or 5 years, on average. The idea behind the wait, according to Maynard James Keenan, frontman of Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, is not the actual wait in order for the audience to get hungry or just a publicity stunt. In his words the wait is in order to gather new experience and new happening that can be written down on a piece of a paper and expressed through notes.

Maynard’s idea is that most bands burn out by their third album because they signed a record deal that forces them to release a new album. And between the first and second album, and after the second album, most of the bands are on tours and nothing happens to them. Nothing important happens in their lives, so the inspiration is not there and most bands write about the road, which is a cliché.

Tool as a band promised to only release material when it’s ready and that is what they are doing, waiting for the moment when they are ready to give us something new. And we all know what that means, just look at the previous Tool albums. 10,000 days was definitely worth the wait. Now finally Tool is on a tour, practicing before they go into studio to record a new album, fifth official studio album if we skip Opiate.

I can’t tell you how much I’m excited and I know that Tool fans around the world are excited as well. In fact there is one thing I have to clarify one thing; “fans” of Tool are not like fans of any other band in the world. Most of that is due to Maynard James Keenan and his magnificent voice and charisma. His ability to mix the unmixable, his tremendous power that he transmits when he sings and when he is on stage.

Maynard has proven over the years that he is really a man of a special caliber. Besides being the frontman of Tool he is also the lead singer of A Perfect Circle and his own personal project, Puscifer. All of which are platinum selling labels. The news is that A Perfect Circle is also planning something new, although for six years there hasn’t been any sign or news that they will reunite. I must tell you I am pretty enthusiastic about the new Tool Band album and the possibility of a new release from A Perfect Circle, even if it’s just a single or something similar.

The magnificence of Tool can never be presented in words; fans throughout the world know that. We can only wait and hope that the new album is as half as good as the previous ones and none of us will be disappointed, but I know that waiting on a Tool album is something like waiting for a miracle. But unlike regular saints, Maynard and Tool always deliver.

Thank for informing me about this, lets just hope its not an anti-climax and that they don't change the style too much!

Well, the style change may happen knowing them, but judging from the past experience I don't think that the album will be bad! After all, Maynard doesn't have a single bad album with Tool, APC or Puscifer, I doubt he will start making bad albums now!

Maynard's stuff is always worth the wait. I just hope the new APC surfaces first, just due to the incredibly long time it has been.

I love APC, and I know it's been six years, but as a fan I'm voting for Tool to come out first :)

It all depends, Maynard and Billy can't seem to agree, Maynard says he is working on the new Tool album, while Billy announced very recently that the new APC project is well on it's way. And I can't seem to shake the feeling that they misunderstood each other somewhere, since Maynard is on a tour with Tool.

Tool > Puscifer > A Perfect Circle.. In my book :) But all of them are 10, the rest of the bands are 8 and down!

Just to be clear, the bands performing now, active now, not the legends from way back!
